Looking Ahead: GreenPoint Rated New Home Version 10 (2025 Code)

We have been hard at work on the GreenPoint Rated New Home Version 10 update, aligned with the 2025 code cycle, with a target effective date of January 2026. We are excited to begin sharing this next evolution of the program with you.

This update reflects a practical, impact-driven approach to evaluating sustainable buildings that goes beyond energy performance alone and more closely aligns Raters’ work with what developers and owners value most over time: durable construction, reduced maintenance, and lower operating costs.

As energy code baselines continue to advance, the program is evolving to recognize strategies that support safe, resilient housing, reduce disaster risk, promote occupant health, and leverage carbon accounting to guide smarter material decisions. Together, these strategies help minimize costly repairs, improve building performance, and protect long-term asset value.

As part of this evolution, the program is shifting to more intentionally incorporate and advance:

  • Resilience-building strategies
  • Embodied carbon reduction
  • Health and wellness measures
